Magda and I are done with nursing. I always thought it was going to be a decision that I would let her make, but nursing was a much loved habit and she wasn't going to make that decision anytime soon. Nursing has been uncomfortable for me for a couple of weeks now and it had recently moved into downright painful. Also, I tried to express some milk and got nothing but the smallest pin-prick of milk to come out so she had basically been just chewing on me for the last week or so.
Yesterday at nap time, I told Magda that the nap time nurse was going to be the last time we could nurse together. I'm not sure that she understood what I meant, but she nursed and we had a lovely (and extremely long) nap. Last night, she asked to nurse. I reminded her that the nap nurse was our last time and told her that my nurse didn't work anymore. She got a little upset, but there was no crying or pleading. She actually went to sleep sooner than she has for the past couple of weeks since we skipped the 10-20 minutes of nursing that no longer put her to sleep.
All in all, I'm happy to have nursed for so long. I'm also pleased to be done with nursing (I can wear real bras again!).
...and no, Mom, she can't spend the night there without me this week!
