Since Magda's 4-month appointment, our life has understandably been centered around the baby and getting her fattened up. I feel we're slowly getting a handle on the situation and the routine is getting easier. Since I am getting more comfortable with our new feeding schedule, I was able to join Elizabeth and Kayleigh for a wonderfully relaxing afternoon of lunch and visit to the Austin Museum of Art. It's amazing what a beautiful day in Austin can do for one's outlook - especially when it's paired with adult conversation, an awesome burger, and an interesting art exhibit.
The exhibit featured photographs of environmental art by Andy Goldsworthy. His attention to detail and the obvious focus and perseverance he must have to create some of his works is inspiring. Time and inclination and memory permitting, one day I'll try to create my own work of art with the materials provided by Mother Nature in my own back yard.
Posted by jfer at February 17, 2005 12:46 AMGlad to hear you and Magda and Eliz and Kayleigh had a pleasant outing being arty. I'm sure you're well on your way to resolving the weight problem - looking forward to seeing you all again.
Posted by: Cynthia on February 18, 2005 2:31 PMI wish I had the need to have to fatten myself up...I know what I would eat. Lots of ice cream and M&M's and Chicken Fried Steak and...well the list is endless.
Posted by: The Abuela on February 18, 2005 3:38 PMSorry to hear Magda isn't gaining weight fast enough. This also happened with Bryan when he was an infant and being a premie didn't help matters.
I know as a rule pediatricians frown on solid foods of any kind before 6 months of age, but it really made a big difference supplementing the milk diet with one teaspoon of very thin, baby cereal. You might try asking your pediatrician if this would be helpful in Magda's case.
If you do inquire, I would really like to know his response.
