I'm going to be a terrible mother. I've finally gotten myself to sit down at my computer to do some long delayed work and Homer keeps coming to get me to play with him. He's so adorable when he sits down by chair and looks up at me with his beautiful brown eyes...it's very distracting. To give myself credit, I have actually gotten up to play with him a couple of time, but the only thing he wants to do is be chased around the kitchen table...something I just can't seem to work up the enthusiasm for. So what do I do? I give him bone! I assuage my guilt at chosing work over my dog by giving him treats...yeah, I'm going to be a terrible mother...
Posted by jfer at May 16, 2004 8:20 PMIt didn't work. He was interested in the bone for maybe 30 seconds and now he's back with his big puppy dog eyes, begging for my attention and love. It's just too pathetic...maybe I'll work some tomorrow.
Posted by: I on May 16, 2004 8:22 PMOh why did you mention the word...bone?? As soon as I read your entry the following verse resounded in my head, and now it won't stop!!!
This old man, he played one;
He played knick-knack on my thumbs.
With a knick-knack, paddy whack,
Give a dog a bone;
This old man came rolling home.....
sounds like you might be a great mother, but a bad employee. that is okay.
