Changing of the Guard

After 24 years of quality reporting and over 20,000 interviews, Bob Edwards is being replaced as the host of NPR's Morning Edition. His voice is such an integral part of so many people's morning routine, I can't imagine what the news management team is thinking.

Maybe, after 24 years of early morning broadcasting, Bob has made other plans for his life. It is disconcerting when the pace, or routine, of our days alters.

My coworker's father-in-law is a producer on the Morning Edition. They are all a bit worried that management is going to replace all oldtimers with "fresh blood".

You can express your displeasure with Bob Edwards' reassignment by sending email to nprcomm@npr.org. Aparently lots of people have complained so it's possible that NPR will reconsider...
