Stepan is in Dallas this week so it's just me and Homer at the house. It's hard being a single mom. It's incredible how much easier it is to deal with our little family when there are two of us sharing the responsiblities...twice a day feedings, dealing with the poop, early morning walks. Though the absolute worst part is watching Homer waiting by the front door every evening for Stepan to come home. As it gets later and later, he gets mopier and mopier. I pet him and I hug him and I try to tell him that Stepan will be home soon...but he just doesn't understand. Heartbreaking.
Posted by jfer at October 1, 2003 5:01 PMdo you think he does this when you leave him at Meredith's?
Posted by: mom (aka Rita) on October 1, 2003 7:45 PMActually, no. He enjoys following me and Michael around the house, and he also entertains himself by trying to aggravate our dogs. No moping. He seems to think my ankles, toes, ears, and neck are as tasty as Jennifer's--he playfully (and painfully) nips me the way he does Jen--so apparently he considers me his mom-away-from-mom. Of course, he's still very excited when his parents come to pick him up!
Posted by: Meredith O. on October 1, 2003 10:13 PMOh man, now I feel really guilty. I may have to stop and bring him a treat on my way home.
Hmm, I wonder if Petco sells live squirrels?
It sounds like you're almost ready for a human child.
