Too Late for Los Lonely Boys

I've been listening all week to KGSR for time and location of the ticket giveaway for tomorrow's taping of Austin City Limits featuring Los Lonely Boys. They finally announced it at noon today. You would think I had a fighting chance since the giveaway is at UT - just minutes from my office. Sadly my car was blocked in and I couldn't leave immediately. My co-worker, Lynn, who was leaving for lunch, came to my rescue and dropped me off. I had never tried to get tickets before, so I didn't know where to go. After wandering around the main communications building, I ran into one of the ladies from my bookgroup, Susan, who works in the building, and she directed me to where I needed to be. By now it had been about 10 minutes since the announcement was made on the radio. As I approached the door to the studio, I could tell I was already too late. There was a suspicious lack of people standing in line and two sheets of bright white paper taped to the door. The tickets for the ACL taping were gone - in less than 10 minutes!!!

This is the 2nd time, I've missed an opportunity to see Los Lonely Boys for free (they had a cd release appearence at Waterloo a couple of weeks ago). I guess if I ever want to see them play, I'll have to bite the bullet and fork over a cover charge.

That's amazing the tickets went so fast. How many do they give out, do you know? Better luck next time--perhaps third time will be the charm.

I did hear on the radio today that Los Lonely Boys are playing at La Zona Rosa, possibly on 25th Oct (don't quite recall the date) or otherwise sometime in November, and tickets go on sale through Star Tickets this Saturday at 10 a.m. Maybe you can pick some up before you head out to SeaWorld . . .

Hey. If anyone is in the New England area, Los Lonely Boys are playing at the Avalon in Boston on Wednesday, November 19. Boston radio station 92.9 WBOS is sponsoring the concert and also giving away tickets to VIP club winners. Log onto http://www.wbos.com become a VIP member, then enter for your chance to win tickets to the show. They are playing with Robert Randolph and the Family Band, and it should be a great show. Don't miss it!
