All is set for the Danskin Triathlon tomorrow. This morning, Mom and I were the first to arrive at the the Team Danskin breakfast. I mistakenly thought that we needed to be there early to help blow up balloons for the team members to use to mark their bike locations. Turns out we need to be there early tomorrow to help blow up the balloons...oops!
Despite our early arrival, we had a great time at the breakfast and expo afterwards. We were among the very first to get our bikes racked so we were able to get very convient spots in the transition area.
One of the "perks" of being a workout leader for Team Danskin this year was a comped race registration. I didn't realize until we checked in at packet pickup that this also meant that I would be placed in the wave with the "elite" athletes. On the one hand, this is a good thing because it means I'll be among the very first to start therefore among the first to finish so I can cheer on the rest of the team as they cross the finish line. On the other hand, it means I'll be among the first to start therefore I won't have the 45 minutes or so that I'm use to having to psych myself up for the swim start. Also, I have a fairly strong conviction that I'll be the last workout leader to cross the finish line...which isn't a terrible thing since it means that everybody else will be at the finish line to cheer me on :-)
Best of luck to Mom, LizzieBeth, Meredith O, and all those fabulous Team Danskin women...especially those who are experiencing their first triathlon!
Anyway. My race bag is packed. I'm as carbo-loaded as I'm going to get. And I'm ready for bed...and it's not even 9pm!
Posted by jfer at June 7, 2003 8:47 PMBest of luck to you too, Jen. However, in your case luck will have nothing to do with it. You have worked very hard at this and I know you will do well. The same goes for Lizzie and Meredith O.
