Our garage sale was a moderate success. We didn't sale the couch or recliner, like I had hoped we would, but we got rid of a lot of housewares, bed sheets, and clothing that we have no use for. Most things that didn't sell were taken to Goodwill. I'm not sure what we'll be doing with the couch and easy chair. I'll either post an ad at the student union at UT or I'll have one of the local charities come pick them up this week. Hopefully, they won't be around the house much longer.
Today we shop for new living room furniture and a new kitchen table. This is suppose to be the fun part, but Step and I have trouble agreeing on style and color and neither one of us are the best at making decisions. Liz thinks it will take a month to get new seating in place...I hope not, but we'll just have to wait and see.
Posted by jfer at April 13, 2003 11:28 AMI know you have good taste and Stepan will just have to buckle under to all of your wants and desires. :)
Posted by: Theresa on April 13, 2003 8:29 PMWe know that Stepan has good taste as well...look who he chose for a life partner. I have an idea. Why don't one of you take one room and the other take the other room?
Posted by: mom (aka Rita) on April 14, 2003 6:58 PMAnd do it like they do that TV show where your neighbors decorate a room and you don't have any input and don't see it until it is finished. (Might be a tad difficult since you both live there.)
Posted by: cynthia on April 15, 2003 7:45 AMWhat will you sit on if it takes a month to get new stuff?
Posted by: Greg on April 15, 2003 11:54 AMAnother suggestion - be eclectic. Choose what you like and see how the result blends together. It would be REALLY interesting for either Stepon or Jennifer to be the surprised person on "While You Were Out..."
On "Trading Spaces", I've seen two episodes in which a member of one of the couples absolutely hated what was done to her house -
Posted by: Leah on April 16, 2003 10:27 AMLeah, that's exactly what I suggested to Stepan! I would love to disappear for an exotic spa vacation and return to a completely revamped living area....on the other hand, if I sent Step away for a couple of days, I would get to pick a color for the walls....
Posted by: I on April 16, 2003 4:33 PMDid you see the one in Las Vegas? Wasn't that woman a B****? OMG I wanted her to just shut up!
Posted by: Patrick on April 17, 2003 1:57 PMI know this is your blog Jenny, but this is an aside to Patrick.
Patrick...You really crack me up!! When I read your comment I laughed so hard I almost fell out of my chair. That is the last show on Earth I would expect you to watch. :)
Posted by: Theresa on April 18, 2003 12:45 AMI am appreciating not having the extra money to redecorate our den. It may be easier just to live with the old junk. Reminds me of the time Cynthia purchased the orange (salmon?) sofa for their living room on W. Gaywood....I wonder if that was Cynthia's or Patrick's choice?
Posted by: Kathleen on April 18, 2003 7:27 AMTheresa, feel free to comment on other's comments...doesn't bother me bit.
Also, just to clarify any misunderstandings, the comment from Patrick came from a friend of ours from Wichita Falls - not your brother.
Patrick, was that the woman who ended up with a brown and orange themed living room? If so, I liked what they did in the neighbor's room with the purple ceiling, the guitars on the walls, and the built in desk - though the computer monitor was in an awkward position.
And finally, to Pat K. - do you watch shows like Trading Spaces and While You Were Out?
