We're off in a couple of minutes to go to my appointment with the oral and maxillofacial surgeon. I'm finally having my wisdom teeth removed.
Since they will be putting me under, Stepan has also taken the day off to drive me home and take care of me while I recuperate from the effects of whatever they will be using to knock me out for the surgery. It shouldn't be too hard - I expect I'll be sleeping most of the day.
If you never hear from me again, consider it a sign that you should never go to Ann Kristovich for your dental surgery needs...
Posted by jfer at April 10, 2003 8:48 AMOhh...You poor thing! I can't imagine having all four pulled at one time. One was bad enough for me since I developed a dry socket in it. Yes, I followed all the dentist's instructions and didn't sip through a straw, or smoke for 72 hrs. Trust me you don't ever want to get dry socket. It was excruciatingly painful. Good luck with your recovery, Jenny. I guess that means you won't be blogging for a couple of days, huh?
Posted by: Theresa on April 10, 2003 1:01 PMJen, I am feeling your pain. I had all 4 of my teeth out when Meredith was 2 and I was 22. I know this because the next day when I checked out of the hospital I had to take her to the 2 year olds art school at the Wichita Falls Museum of Art.
BTW, thanks for all your comments. I love comments!
Posted by: mom (aka Rita) on April 10, 2003 7:17 PMYou are a brave girl to undergo the "four corners" procedure - at least, it is done and you can recover and those wisdom teeth will never cause you difficulty.
Posted by: Leah on April 16, 2003 10:20 AMI just had all 4 of my wisdom teeth out along with 4 others that needed to come out because of braces for a total of !!!8!!! EIGHT!! teeth. It still hurts even though the extraction was on Thursday. Not fun. Let me know if anyone has any advice to get rid of the pain, swelling, and bruising.

Posted by: katie on July 27, 2004 6:23 PMJust had all four done, was given Versed through an I.V. and was awake for the whole procedure, remember everything especially the sound of the roots cracking away from the bone. Only thing prescribed was prescription strength ibuprofen. No pain though for me, thank goodness.
Posted by: Cody on July 29, 2004 1:56 AMLaurie thank you for your note. My daughter is going in this morning and we questioned going under or the method my doctor prefers versed and fentanyl. We are going with the versed. They did not want her to have anything before no water or ibuprophen, but I will take your adviced on ice packs.
Posted by: liz on May 27, 2005 7:29 AMI just got all four wisdoms out - tomorrow will be two weeks. I got a dry socket the 3rd day and am still in agony. I had it packed with gauze (that tasted like turpentine) for 4 days, it stayed out for three and then back in for two. My oral surgeon tells me I need to go without the gauze because I am prolonging the healing process. I am dying here. I have pain all the way in my temple and all of my teeth around that side just ache. I am on darvicets being I get sick from percocets but I can't even tell that I am taking anything. How long does this pain last? I have read that some people go 1 to 2 months. Please tell me this isn't true! Help!!! Is there a home remedy?!?

Posted by: THERESA on April 29, 2006 2:36 PMHi there, Just found this site, I am getting all of my teeth pulled including my 4 wisdom teeth for dentures a week from tomorrow, I am a bit nervous but nothing can compare to the 2 times I have survived cancer I am thinking.. :)
Any advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated...
thanks so much.. Michele
Hola! I just got all 4 out last week, along with a jaw breaking procedure for expansion of my upper jaw. I loved being put under, I woke up not remembering anything. The pain of doing these 2 procedures together I will never forget. Thank god it's over though. I say, get 'em out altogether and never worry about 'em again! :)
