Welcome to Earth, Eamon!

Big grins for everyone! We just got a call from Archie. Eamon Houston McHarg was born on Saturday, February 22, 2003. He weighed 7.5 pounds and was 21.25 inches long (or thereabouts). Mother, Father, and Son are doing fine. Apparently, he's a champion nurser and has already watched (or slept through) his first dance video. They aren't quite ready for visitors yet, but I'm eager to hear Jessica's opinions on her experience at The Austin Area Birthing Center...apparently she gave birth underwater!

Don't forget to congratulate them for us. We're here if they have any baby questions.

And yes, the name apparently is pronounced "Amen" - I sympathize with the kid :-)

The name is NOT pronounced "Amen". The difference may be as subtle as the difference between "nackte" and "nacht" (German words for "naked" and "night"), but there is a definite distinction.

Very many congratulations to Archie & Jessica. I am jealous about the ease of her birth and wish only that I had known to go to the Austin-Area Birthing Center when I was pregnant the first time! If I can ever get pregnant again and stay pregnant, that's exactly where I'll be. They are great there.

How exactly is it prounounced, then? Have you gotten to see them yet? Or spoken with them? The pictures they've sent out via e-mail are beautiful.
